Hi could you please tell me what the differences are between Darwin's thory of evolution and Lamarck's theory? And could you also suggest reasons for the different theories?

etutor answers:
Lamarck believed in the inheritance of acquired characteristics. His theory was the generally accepted one until Darwin suggested survivial of the fittest. Lamarck's theory was finally disproved once genetics was discovered, which showed that there was no way of inheriting environmental variations.
