I need to write a prediction for my cousework and i need to know out of sucrose maltose and fructose what sugar would have the greatest affect on starch synthesis and why?
Starch is made of glucose. Maltose is a disaccharide made of 2 glucose units. Sucrose is glucose +fructose, and fructose is a monosaccharide. Maltose would therefore be the most suitable sugar for starch synthesis.
