maths coursework

This is no where near complete is it? I hope not as I can not grade your work so far.

There are 3 main components to a statistics coursework - a plan, carrying out the plan and interpretation. You have not completed any of these sections. You have a good sample but need to do something with it ( and most importantly plan it first).

Note from system: No grade awarded, defaulted to C grade.

Data Handling

This is really good.

I haven't checked all of your calculations but I will assume you have worked out any numbers correctly.

Excellent plan and good strong analysis and results.

A B grade is 6 6 6, A grade 7 7 7 and A* grade 8 8 8. I think you are definitely in the B grade area if not A area but at my college we only do intermediate tier so I don't have much experience of marking work at this level.

To improve you could try to combine factors (type of article) from the papers to create a connection between them and the length of the sentences in that paper. This would need to be algebraic. I have suggested to a few students to generate this from scatter diagrams and lines of best fit.

Statistics coursework intro

I gather from your name for this question that you have only sent the beginning? I hope so as you have lots more to do. Your sampling looks well thought through and if the rest of your plan and coursework are as good you should be on for a top grade ( B or higher)

There are 3 main components to a statistics coursework - a plan, carrying out the plan and interpretation (what your diagrams and calculations show).
You need to finish your plan of what you think will be useful - what calculations and diagrams are going to help you prove your hypothesis.

The middle is then to actually do the work. This might change if you find some unexpected results but this is not a problem. Just make sure you comment on why you have changed from your original ideas. At the end you comment on what you have found.

I can't actually tell you what to do - this is against all exam board guidelines but I hope these hints will help. If you want me to check any work you complete you can send it in for marking.

Mayfield High School

FaloraWe're doing the Mayfield High School thing for our Maths statistics coursework. I'm not clear on what we're meant to do - the teacher didn't explain it properly and I don't know how to get started. Do you section it off, like Plan, Analysis, etc? What kind of stuff do you put in your plan? Also, do you have any tips on which factors are the best to use? i.e. weight/height, IQ/SATs results? What kind of things will get you the top marks?
