Crime and Englishness

Hi

I'm having a bit of difficulty figuring out what this question wants me to do.

"The Detective is a man apart, an extraordinary individual who observes all thatthose around him cannot". How far is this view of the detective antithetical to the idea of national identity?

I have to answer it in relation to Hercule Poirot's Murder on the Orient Express.

Thanks

Social Antagonism in Volpone and The Rover

Hi

I've been going through my set texts - Aphra Behn's The Rover and Ben Johnson's Volpone for days but I can't seem to find any examples of unresolved social antagonisms in either of them - unless I'm approaching this wrong. Would you be able to help?

Thanks

Seventeenth Century Comedy

Hi I have been given the following question and I can't understand what it means so I wonder if you could clarify it?

"Seventeenth century comedy highlights unresolved social antgonisms rather than the attainment of social harmony". Discuss. Answer with reference to Volpone and The Rover.

I'm not sure what social antagonisms are supposed to be?

Thanks.

How do Fairytales define by Metamorphosis? Use Films as examples.

Hi There,
I am having problems in starting this essay. I have an overall idea but I dunno how to pad it out to 3,500 words. Can you help me? Here is the question:
Marina Warner argues that metamorphosis defines the fairytale. Critically analyse her argument in relation to fairytales for adults and children. Relate to specific examples.

I have been asked to use Film examples to prove my point. These films are Disney's Sleeping Beauty, The Princess Bride and Star Wars. I want to argue that metamorphosis defines the fairytale as it helps to portray the different message to different audiences. The metamorphosis of the storytelling form from oral to literacy back to oral with film as it is going back to the old teller to crowd format. Star Wars is a fairy tale set in space and told to a Sci Fi Audience in a SFX Manner. Sleeping Beauty is a traditional fairytale hidden by the visual awe of the animation. Princess Bride is a traditional fairytale told in a satirical sense. The metamorphosis of the lead characters are used express the story's meaning such as Star Wars with Luke Skywalker. He transforms from a dependent peasant to an independent intergalactic hero, Westley transforms from a stable boy to a pirate to a responsible hero as a way of maturing and so on.

There is my arguement but I dunno how to set it up or how to truly begin. I am seriously struggling. I need this soon so please respond as soon as possible. All Idea, No Motivation, No way to start.

Thank You Very Much
Johann Chipol

nouns

I know I've probably made this up, but I remember whilst doing Keats at A Level, there was a name for when a noun was capitalised in the middle of a line, eg:

"Thou, silent form, dost tease us out of thought
As doth eternity: Cold Pastoral!"

Not the best example, but I can't find the one I'm looking for right now.

Thanks!

Prometheus Bound and Dr Faustus

Hello,

I have to answer the following question (for 1000 words) and I'm stuck! Any ideas on what I could write or any sites etc would be very helpful...

"Write a commentary on Act One, Scene One of Doctor Faustus (A Text) in which you show, through detailed analysis of the text, the ways in which the scene engages thematically with the Prometheus Myth."

Thanks!
